Amelia Jade DuVall, PhD

I am a quantitative ecologist and decision scientist with expertise in applying advanced statistical and computational tools to solve complex environmental challenges. I specialize in developing Bayesian models, integrated population models, spatial and spatiotemporal analyses, and decision frameworks to make sense of large, complex ecological datasets.

My professional trajectory has run the gamut of the environmental sector, providing a unique perspective on the entire lifecycle of conservation work. I have served in roles ranging from Veterinary Technician and Field Biologist to Program Manager, Development Director, and Data Manager, with experience ranging from philanthropy, non-profit, private sector, and academia.

I hold a PhD in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences with an emphasis in Data Science from the University of Washington, where my dissertation integrated population ecology and decision science to inform marine bird conservation. I received a BA in Environmental Studies with a minor in Writing from the University of California, Santa Barbara. My research there explored the intersection of agriculture and climate change and the role of diet as a tool to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

I am passionate about translating data into actionable insights that help organizations and communities make better decisions for the environment.
